Westbriar Elementary School PTA
MathCounts is a renown national math competition for students in Grades 6 - 8. There are four levels of competition: School, Chapter, State, and Nationals. Each competition may have up to 4 rounds: Sprint, Target, Team, & Countdown. Each round focuses on different math abilities: speed, accuracy, problem solving, math reasoning, and collaboration.
Westbriar’s MathCounts Program is open to 6th graders. All registered students may compete in the three practice competitions. A maximum of 15 students will advance to represent Westbriar at the Chapter (Regional) Competition. Practices and competitions will be virtual. The optional practice program is designed to improve student’s problem solving and critical thinking skills while covering middle school level competition math problems and concepts including algebra, counting, probability, number theory, and geometry. Program runs from September to March. Spaces are limited.
Registration Fee: $65 (Competition Entry Only) or
$325 (Competition Entry and Prep Program) 25 students max
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, September 23.
Day/Date: Practices: Thursday, Sept 24 - Feb 4 . From 4:10pm - 5:10pm.
