MATHCOUNTS & AMC 8 (GRADES 5-6)

This program is for any 6th grader or advanced math 5th grader  who wants to Sharpen their math and critical thinking skills while learning to solve the more difficult middle school level MathCounts and AMC 8 competition problems. Students should have strong basic math skills and like being challenged. Practices cover algebra, geometry, probability, counting, logic, combinatorics, number theory, reasoning, statistics, sequences and series as well as problem solving and test taking strategies.  

The AMC 8 (American Mathematics Competition 8):  is a prestigious national middle school level math exam for students in Grades 8 or below. It is 25 questions, 40 minutes long, multiple choice. Any student in Grades 5 or 6 may register to take the exam. The material covered on the AMC 8 are of varying difficulty up to high school level math. Problems are designed to promote the development of analytical thinking and problem solving skills.

MathCounts: is a renown national math competition for students in Grades 6 - 8.  There are four levels of competition: School, Chapter, State, and Nationals.  Each competition may have up to 4 rounds: Sprint, Target, Team, & Countdown.  Each round focuses on different math abilities: speed, accuracy, problem solving, math reasoning, and reasoning.           Only 6th graders may compete in MathCounts. 

Combined Practice for MathCounts and AMC 8 

Day/Date: Practices: Tuesdays, September 10, 2024 - February 1, 2025 (No practice on Nov 26th or Jan 7th)

Practice Time: 1 hour 20 minutes (4:10pm - 5:30 pm)

Practice and Exam Entry: $420

Exam Only: $45 (AMC 8) / $50 (MathCounts) 

Note: No refunds or transfers between math programs. Please contact the provider below to to ensure students are enrolled in the appropriate program based on ability prior to registration.
